Reminder

  • Feb. 4th, 2010 at 8:32 AM

Just a small reminder, most of the posts in this journal are friends only.  If you are not on my friends list and would like to be added, please send me a message and I would be happy to add you.  (It helps if you tell me who you are or why you would like to view my journal too lol)

Thanks,

April fools my arse!

  • Apr. 1st, 2008 at 8:34 AM

Just so everyone knows, I don't enjoy April Fool's jokes, especially about work! Why would you want to go out of your way to make someone look like a fool? I mean do people really get off on making other people look like idiots? They have feelings too!

Every year it's the same thing, ha ha very funny, I will seriously go "house" on anyone playing a joke on me this year, my temper is too short to put up with it! THIS MEANS YOU!

$109.55 a Barrel?!?!?!

  • Mar. 13th, 2008 at 8:26 AM

Ok, I am like any other guy, I have a truck, I need it for work, its just something I cannot do a lot about.  Now they are saying gas prices could go as high as $3.75 a gallon by the end of the spring.  Now, we do have a more economical vehicle too, but since all of my driving is done in town, the savings is minimal.  They are saying the reason that oil is jumping so high despite production being up by over 6 million barrels is because the dollar's value against the Euro is dropping.  Oil itself is a good hedge fund because foreign investors buy oil when the dollar is low as they get more bang for their buck so to speak.

A call for help

  • Feb. 12th, 2008 at 9:06 AM

One of the biggest blessings I have in life is my friends.  It hurts me to see them in pain or suffering.  I have a friend who's father has been sick for some time, and he is in the hospital again today, and she is worried terribly about him.  He is getting ready to say his goodbyes and move on so he is no longer in pain.

It's never easy to say goodbye to a parent, in fact, I think that it is one of the hardest things anyone can do to help a family member move on and say good bye.

Whatever your faith, whatever you believe happens after death, I ask all my friends to keep "C" in your prayers and thoughts today and through the rest of this situation, whatever the outcome may be.  If you have thoughts or well wishes, please comment here and I will pass these along to her.

Together we can get through anything.

Thank you everyone

You know if I have to work on Samhain/Halloween at least we get kids trick-o-treating through the store, some of them are in very cute costumes.  I even had to work the desk tonight so I am giving out the candy!

Samhain

  • Oct. 31st, 2007 at 9:35 AM

Happy Day of the Dead!  (in whatever form you celebrate it in)

This day means a lot of things to many people, but to me Samhain is the start of the New Year, a time to let go of the old and embrace the new.  The end of the harvest season is here and it is time to pay respects to those love ones and friends that are departed.  Colors for the day of course are orange and black (as rightly they should be) and I light a single candle and pay my respects to the spirits.

For all of my friends, both those departed and those still here, Blessed Be!

No sir, don't like it

Inventory is finally over, we did ok, I am tired of talking on it, so that is all I am going to say.

The rest of my entry this evening will be venting!

I dislike Gateway's return policy!  I need repair on my laptop, the DVD drive is not working properly, a problem I have reported in the past.  My warranty is up in about a month so I decided I would talk to them again today.  They would not even troubleshoot with me, they want me to send it in for repair.  They send me a box, tell me to send it in and I get it back in 7-14 business days.  Real nice!  Not to mention, they told me to make a back up of my hard drive because they would reformat it to put it back to factory specs BEFORE doing any other troubleshooting.  How nice of them.

Also, if it gets damaged in shipping, I have to take it up with UPS.. they actually told me that.

What happened to local customer service?  Gateway has really gone down hill!

Grrr

  • Oct. 24th, 2007 at 1:22 PM

I don't know what it is with my cable company, but I am getting really tired of my internet and phone going out.  I never had this problem with DSL at my old house.  The problem is, DSL is not availible at my current one.  Was surfing this morning and getting some stuff done (bills) and the connection just dropped.

Going to be a long day, *sighs* I hate being here, I no longer like my job at all and I have not had much response even after followups to places I have submitted my resume to.

Oh well, gotta get to work.

Meme, what kind of file extension are you?

  • Oct. 22nd, 2007 at 6:16 AM

Ok, Firefox, I wasn't going to do this one, but.. lol.. the answer fit when I did so it made the post.  The other amusing thing about this answer, was that their script generator to post this on my blog, was broken, so I actually had to FIX the HTML coding just to post it, thus, proving a point!

LOL Lessons learned

  • Oct. 21st, 2007 at 11:06 AM

Learned something this morning.  To those of my friends who play EVE online, you will understand this:

-Warp core stabilizer, 120k ISK

-Brand new Thorax cruiser 6.7 million ISK

-Forgetting to equip your warp core stabilizer, and getting jumped then blown up by a member of your own corporation while salvaging in low sec space, PRICELESS!

Ok, so it was an expensive lesson, but a good one!  The funny part is, last night that would have pissed me off, today, I laughed and congratulated the other pilot on a good clean kill!

I think I find it really amusing that I scord an 88% on two crews, and the defining question was "Do you have furry friends?" Meme results )

Well I got out.. darn!

  • Oct. 7th, 2007 at 12:06 PM

Well, I got out of the alley, with much mud flinging and tire spinning, but I am here.   LOL the whole side of my truck is covered with mud.  The thing that struck me after I got out and around the block was how much the street changed overnight.  The whole south bound lane is sunk anywhere from 3 to 6 inches for 3, almost 4 blocks and the intersection 3 blocks downhill from the actual break, has a big hole in it.  I have a feeling I will be using my alley for quite a while to get in and out of my drive.

We also are going to have to replace the last slab of concrete at the end of the drive and the one leading into the allet as they have both cracked and sunk.  There is a sink hole developing in front of the storm drain too, I only hope they get it fixed before the hard rains we seem to get every fall.  I got some more pictures but I have not put them up yet.  I am going to talk to the water company about fixing our alley too as there are going to be some huge ruts from where I have to slog through the mud to get in and out.

On a side note, tomorrow is trash day but there is no way for the trash truck to get to my back gate, I need to call them and find out where I can take it or have them pick it up.. perhaps I can take the cans to my other house and pick them up that night.  Will just have to wait and see.

Oy! what a morning

  • Oct. 7th, 2007 at 8:41 AM

Water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink!!  Yes, I woke up this morning, lights were flashing in my window, the door bell was ringing and I could hear the rushing river through my window.  Wait a sec.. rushing river?  I don't live near a river!  I get up and look out the window, lo and behold.. there is a watermain break in front of my house.  There is water rushing over the sidewalk, into my yard, down the alley and down the street.  The actual break was on a main line up the road from me, where there is now.. you guess it.. a sinkhole! Woo Hoo!  I have my own personal sinkhole!

Ok, so I never really wanted a sinkhole.  Now the curb and the end of my driveway are damaged.  There is water in my basement, but none in my shower.  So.. I get to go to work.. with.... the funk!  (ok, I took a shower last night, but its humid, I wanted another one!)  The good news is this.  I let the water company in and they took pics of the leak in my basement (had been there since I owned the house, but now THEY might have to fix it lol  go me!) Also, the street appears to be sinking, if they have to repair it, they repair the curb too!  (which is something I was going to have to pay for) so its not all bad.  I am debating calling out of work though, I don't know if I can get my truck out through the alley with all the mud..

Here are some pics once it got light out.. more forthcoming as they tear up the street.

Wow, what sleep will do!

  • Oct. 6th, 2007 at 6:28 PM

2 Days in a row with more than 8 hours of sleep.  I musta needed it or something, but now I feel like I will be awake for DAYS.  Go figure

Only insane folks do this!

  • Oct. 4th, 2007 at 9:03 AM

Ok, I am at work now but before I can start my day I have to get this out of my head and written down somewhere lest I loose my resolve to do it.  If it's down somewhere there is no taking it back....  so... here it goes:

I hear about a lot of cities having Fur Cons, and while there are some that are within driving distance, such as MFF, MFM, RCFM and Oklacon, Kansas city does not have its own.  There are a lot of furs in KC if our yahoo group is any indication, and many of them are very active.  I got to thinking at the breakfast last week, why don't we have our own?

So.. here is my fledgling idea.  I would like to have a local con.  There are plenty of spaces to have it in, no matter how big it gets.  KC is also a very liberal community in my opinion for being a midwest city.  If we can have a huge outdoor weekend convention for Gay/Lesbian pride then we can have a fur con, surely.

Every great idea starts out small.  I would like ours to be unique in a truely midwestern way, though I am not sure what that should be yet.  The first thing I would like to do is this.  I would like to come up with a name.  Just a name.  A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step and this is it.  So I am asking you, all of my friends and all of the furs who come along and find this post, to post a comment, suggesting a name.  Once we have a series of selections I will pick a number of them and we can vote for them.  The same suggestions and vote will be posted to my Y! group (kcfur) and we will pick one.

Once we have a name to start with I will start my research and get a web site and a group going for it.  It will take a while to make this come to fruition, but I know with my friends help, I can do anything.

So... all of you furs out there, this is your chance, get out there and help a fledgling idea, a dream, turn into a reality.  Tell all your friends, ask them what they think and for their ideas.  Feel free to cross post this to other journals and groups.  Anyone who comes to my journal and asks to be added as a friend I will add.  Also, feel free to post and tell me I am nuts too!

KO and Haystack, I may be asking you for some advice soon.  We will see what happens!

Thanks for the support

  • Oct. 2nd, 2007 at 4:05 PM

To those of you who have posted here or gotten with me in other ways with offers of encouragement, help and advice, I want to thank you.  I find it really easy to loose sight of what is important and that you are never truely alone if you have good friends.  I was listening to the radio at lunch and heard a song come on that really made me think when I listened to the lyrics.  I am not a huge country fan, but I listen to it a fair amount and I have never listened to the words of this song until today.  If you want, I posted the lyrics below, feel free to check them out behind the cut.

Thank you again everyone.  I love you all.
