What time is it?
He couldn't decide if he wanted it done after school at 3pm or at his bed time at 9pm.

Sad Pants
I would be sad too if I had thunder thighs.

They don't go there!
GAAHHH! Those don't belong there!

And finally... This should be rated or something... cause even though it tries to be a fem... you can definitely tell what gender it really is. D:

The cleaning bug bit me today, since I've been wanting to clean the bathroom for a while, just haven't gotten around to it. It's not like Xav and I trash it or anything, so it was mostly just dust on the floor, hairs around the sink... but the bathroom hasn't gotten a good cleaning in a long time. And I needed to put back up that shower bar that fell off the wall a while back, and clean the tile grout... so I figured I'd just do the whole thing. It's much better now.

So I decided to do the little area of kitchen floor as well, since it's been neglected. I decided I'd pull the stove out and clean under it, since it's tiny and light. Big mistake! It was disgusting, looked like it hadn't been cleaned beneath in years! But that's also better now, and the kitchen floor has a nice few layers of wax over it.

I ran to Target earlier as well, since it was beside the Kohl's I wanted to browse at... They had a special on shoe racks to go in the closet, and I've been needing something to manage space in mine better... they were perfect.  Also got a nice burnt umber colored shirt at Kohl's for 80% off, so that makes me happy. I've almost got a rainbow... If only I could find my yellow button-down. >.<

Can't attend but have pre-registered

  • May. 18th, 2008 at 7:47 PM
My mate and I have preregistered but it's looking like we can't come (will know for sure tomorrow). Is there any way we can get our registration pushed back to next year or refunded? We're both registered as sponsors.

Arist Alley question

  • May. 18th, 2008 at 6:28 PM
Again, since no one answered it last time. :/

I want to bring my laptop and wacom tablet to do badges this year, but the policy page lists "no electrical equipment", with exceptions for small desk lamps. A printer I can hook up in another room if need be, but the laptop needs to be plugged in because its old and the battery only lasts ten minutes before it dies. It's only a single plug.

Last two years I remember one particular fellow with the HUGE tablet and his laptop, printer, etc all plugged in. So I'm assuming it's okay?

Looking for clarification,
~Link

I have been awake for 25 hours now, working for 17 of them.  I have been on a major sign and plaque making binge, making templates and blanks for some upcoming woodburnings.  It's been hella fun but my body won't let me keep going, so I'm taking a break for sleep and headed right back to it.

Lazy Sunday

  • May. 18th, 2008 at 3:28 PM
Mbala and I have been making a habit of walking to the grocery store for the last few weeks. The weather has been wonderful and it takes us just over an hour round trip, so it's good exercise and saves on gas money. I really like walking, it's just hard a lot of the year here because the weather can be really extreme.
I wish the weather would stay exactly like it is right now here. It's cool, in the 60s, but sunny and a bit windy - which keeps the bugs away. It's beautiful outside. We went to the store today and bought a few things so we can grill over a campfire in the backyard for dinner. Fresh sweet corn, banana boats, bannock bread and bratwurst. Yum! We may live in the suburbs, but we're at the back of the community overlooking a bunch of farm land so it's pretty private.
I spent the weekend cleaning, working on art, and relaxing with Mbala. It was wonderful. :) We walked to the theater yesterday and saw Narnia: Prince Caspian. I loved it. Yeah, it was very silly and overly religious-themed, but the graphics were so much fun. The griffins were the highlight of it for me, they really need to make a movie just based on them. The Black Griffin would make a great eyecandy show! It's kind of nice all this stuff they are putting in across the road from us - I'd of course rather be totally rural but if we're stuck here, it's convenient. We just need to get some good restaurants in there and I'll be very happy.
Unfortunately I have to work for the next bunch of days overnight, which is a bummer. It's getting harder and harder to do - my body wants to be up at 6am and in bed at midnight. Oh well, it won't be forever!

Btw - a friend of mine is doing a free icon day, and his work is just awesome - go check out his stuff and maybe get yourself drawing while he's still at it!

Tires for a Wrx

  • May. 18th, 2008 at 3:14 PM
I'm looking to pick up a new set of shoes for my '02 Wrx, and I've narrowed it down to either Yokohama Advan S4's or Goodyear eagle F1's. Anybody have any experience with either one?

They're both high performance all seasons, because it will be at least next spring before I'm ready to spring for a set of nicer wheels and do the summer/winter swap. These tires will have to at least get me through one winter, maybe 2.

what are you folks running?

later,
Jack

A fun, fun start to the day.

Not feeling so swuft. Mike's voice keeps coming and going; if it stays gone more than comes I'll have to get it checked out. Had a decent breakfast, but please note NOT to buy any other boned ham product from Food Depot; it was more bone and fat than meat. Mike managed to spill koolaid on me. And just now I had to use the rescue inhaler because I couldn't catch my breath. Also a friend whose birthday was this week and Mike both have been dropping hints about stuff they'd like. Which is okay as long as they don't get their hopes up. Naturally everybody has great food sales this week and I've got all of 70 cents to my name.

The lack of stimulus money has gone beyond irritating to pessimism that I'll see a penny of it. I'm sending all the support, prayer and good vibes to those who it need it, but especially to [info]cplady and Mavra.

For all my friends out there; stay well and stay happy.

I have only a few clear memories from 1979, when I was nine years old.

One of them was when my folks took me and my sister to the Grauman's Chinese Theatre to see both The Black Hole and Star Trek: The Motion Picture, both of which were playing there.

You see, at that time, Mann's Theaters owned The Chinese and they'd recently constructed two extra theaters to turn it into a sort of multiplex. The Black Hole was thusly being played at one of these auxiliary theaters and Star Trek was playing on the main screen. We saw The Black Hole first and then went to see Star Trek.

Though I did and still do like The Black Hole, I was very much more in awe of Star Trek. At the time, I was really really clueless about the whole nature of Trekkies, and what a fanbase Star Trek had. So I was surprised when, for the very first time that Captain Kirk appeared on the big screen (in the scene at Starfleet Headquarters), the whole audience cheered.

But I did think that was fun.
